$70,000 in Scholarships Granted!
Abigail Jones, a 2025 Valley Regional High School graduate, received The Jean O’Brien Memorial Scholarship. Named for a former Board Member, this 4-year scholarship is granted to an exemplary student who has a declared major in Education and is planning for a career in teaching. Molly Stead, a graduate of Woodland Regional High School, received the John Fontaine Future Teachers Scholarship. Established in honor of this long-serving Member of our Board of Directors and Scholarship Committee Chairman who was a teacher for 36 years, this 2-year, $5,000 per year scholarship, is awarded to an outstanding student who has committed to an education major and a career in education. Melody Santos, a Waterbury Career Academy graduate, received the Jack Cronan Scholarship. This 1-year, $5,000 Scholarship, was named in honor of our former Board Chairman, and is granted to an exemplary Waterbury Resident and Graduating Senior of a Waterbury Public High School. The General Scholarship Awards are granted to students who have been top performers both in the classroom and in the community. This 1-year, $5,000 scholarship, is given to students who are distinguished by both their academic performances and extracurricular activities.
