Our Story
Waterbury CT Teachers Federal Credit Union (WCTFCU) was originally founded in 1934 by seven teachers to serve the Waterbury public school system. Starting with just 72 members, the credit union has since grown to serve over 22,000 members in 28 towns in three counties. WCTFCU is the largest teachers’ credit union in Connecticut, with assets exceeding $350,000,000.
Membership is now available to current, former and retired teachers, staff and administrators paid through the Board of Education working in public, private or parochial schools or universities in the towns we serve, as well as their immediate family members.
We’re part of the credit union movement that was founded on the philosophy of “people helping people” and strive every day to empower our members for financial success.
We remain committed to delivering state-of-the-art technologies alongside a traditional, personal-relationship-based partnership with our members.
Based in Middlebury CT with a second branch in Danbury, the credit union has expanded its offerings over the years to include modern and convenient digital banking services and a wider variety of loan and savings products.
Our volunteer Board of Directors includes current and retired educators from the schools we serve. Our member-based leadership ensures delivery of the best available products and services.
