On Thursday, July 23, 2026, in a ceremony held at the Waterbury CT Teachers Federal Credit Union Middlebury branch, ten area students were awarded a total of $70,000 in scholarships! The awards were given out by WCTFCU Chairman of the Board Peter McCasland, Vice Chairman Robert Haxhi, Board Treasurer Lory Park-Knowles and Supervisory Committee Chairwoman Janet Sweetland.

The 2026 WCTFCU Scholarship Recipients
Avery DiGiovanna, a 2026 Woodland Regional High School graduate, received The Jean O’Brien Memorial Scholarship. Named for a former Board Member, this 4-year scholarship is granted to an exemplary student who has a declared major in Education and is planning for a career in teaching.
Lindsay Litke, a graduate of Naugatuck High School, received the John Fontaine Future Teachers Scholarship. Established in honor of this long-serving Member of our Board of Directors and Scholarship Committee Chairman who was a teacher for 36 years, this 2-year, $5,000 per year scholarship, is awarded to an outstanding student who has committed to an education major and a career in education.
Elysha De La Rosa, a Waterbury Arts Magnet School graduate, received the Jack Cronan Scholarship. This 1-year, $5,000 Scholarship, was named in honor of our former Board Chairman, and is granted to an exemplary Waterbury Resident and Graduating Senior of a Waterbury Public High School.
The General Scholarship Awards are granted to students who have been top performers both in the classroom and in the community. This 1-year, $5,000 scholarship, is given to students who are distinguished by both their academic performances and extracurricular activities.
Presented alphabetically, the seven 2026 General Scholarships were awarded to:

- Tobias Haxhi, a Hamden High School graduate
- Megan LaMontagne, a Cheshire Academy graduate
- Gwendolyn Marenghi, a Naugatuck High School graduate
- Benjamin Miller, a Danbury High School graduate
- Jameson Nemec, a Woodland Regional High School graduate
- Bradford Sollose, a Brookfield High School graduate
